Blanc & Noir – F/W 2010

November 25th, 2010

This Fall we are excited to introduce Blanc & Noir to our steadily growing stocklist.  This young line, hailing from Vancouver has thoroughly impressed us with their toned down military designs and extreme attention to detail.  While many of their pieces appear basic at first glance, there is always something more on offer, whether it be a luxurious fabric choice or subtle treatment.  Founder Jean-Claude LeBlanc has chosen to evolve the line slowly and carefully in its first seasons, concentrating on sourcing the best fabrics and nailing down consistent production methods.  2011 is set to bring their first denim offerings as well as a collection of made in Italy footwear.  For a more in depth look at the inner workings and influences behind Blanc & Noir head over to our friends Mosaic and check out their interview with Jean-Claude.

Free/Man Interview

November 20th, 2010

This past Friday we were fortunate enough to have been featured on www.freemanbrand.com.  If you have a spare minute check out the interview, as we think it will offer some insight into what goes on behind the scenes here at Four Horsemen.  If you don’t follow Free/Man already we highly suggest you start.  They are transitioning into a true online magazine format and continue to offer a balanced mix of exclusive features and product highlights.  Darian and his team have some projects on the horizon so stay tuned for big things.

Four Horsemen x Viberg Service Boot

November 6th, 2010

Viberg Boot has been hand crafting some of the highest quality footwear in the world for the last 80 years. With a rich history of supplying the local logging industry, it has only been in recent years that Viberg has branched out into the world of menswear. New silhouettes and non-traditional materials have been utilized to great success in a series of collaborations mostly for the Japanese market.

With Four Horsemen being located less than five blocks from the Viberg all-in-one retail, office, and factory floor it was only a matter of time before a collaborative project of our own was in the works. We have been in talks with Brett Viberg and his father Glen for over 10 months and from the very beginning we knew we wanted to make something that would be easily wearable for ourselves and our customers. When Brett mentioned he had plans for a new Service Boot on a slimmer last, directly inspired by a pair of boots his grandfather had made over 50 years prior, our decision was made.

The Four Horsemen x Viberg Service Boot features an upper made entirely of black Buffalo leather. The Vamp and Counter are done in roughout which has a nappy, suede texture, while the Quarters are done in the smooth side which shows off the matte finish and unique texture of the Buffalo. The contrast leather sole and stacked heel are accented by gunmetal eyelets and copper coloured thread. All of this is housed on a thin Vibram #269 sole and a deadstock Cat’s Paw Heel. The toe is intentionally unstructured to allow for a slim profile and a shorter break-in period. The Four Horsemen x Viberg Service Boot is a boot that will last you a life time and truly get better with every wear.

The Four Horsemen x Viberg Service Boot will be available for purchase on Monday, Nov. 8th.

Natural Indigo Revival Selvedge @ 18 Months

November 2nd, 2010

To coincide with our recent Naked & Famous restock, we thought we would share one of our favourite worn in pairs so you could get an idea of what to expect from your jeans after months of daily wear.  Our friend Jordan purchased these N&F Skinny Guys in Natural Indigo Revival Selvedge about a year and a half ago and has worn them everyday since, including a daily bicycle commute.  When the crotch of his jeans began to wear out, rather than take them to a tailor to be reinforced with denim, Jordan cut out two pieces of leather and sewed them over top of the weak areas.  Not only will the patch last forever, but the textured black leather looks great against the faded hues of blue in the natural indigo.  Hit more… for additional views.

Our Legacy F/W 2010 Preview

August 21st, 2010

Our Legacy’s fall offerings are just around the corner, so we thought we should give you a preview of what to expect. The collection, entitled Generation Perdue, is a representation of Our Legacy’s philosophy behind their clothing.  In their own description of the collection Our Legacy tells us, “a garment has a personality of its own(…) It can be intellectual, romantic, sensitive, experienced and much more.” While the garments may have their own personality, they still maintain the understated elegance and sophistication that Our Legacy represents, whether it is a casual flannel shirt or one of their beautifully tailored suits.
